Let’s talk about lips

Our lips are precious and therefore we need to take good care of them. Human lips are the only lips that have what is called a “vermillion border,” which describes the natural color changes (from shades of red to shades of pink). Lips are also responsible for your oral health and well-kept lips help in preventing many diseases.

How to take good care of your lips

Exfoliate - Exfoliating your lips properly will help in removing all the dead skin cells

and will lead to regrowth of new cells. To exfoliate your lips, use a good lip scrub and gently rub it on your lips. Rub it for 5-7 minutes until the dead skin comes off and then rinse off the remaining mixture for smoother lips. After rinsing the lips apply oil or a lip cream to your lips to keep them hydrated and maintain moisture.

Adopt healthy habits for your lips

Use sunscreen – Nowadays it is extremely important to apply a sunscreen to protect your lips from cancer, blisters, cracking, and peeling. The sunscreen should have at least 15  SPF to protect it from the harsh rays of the sun.

Quit smoking or tobacco – Smoking leads to darkened lips or wrinkles around your lips and quitting these harmful habits such as chewing tobacco or smoking will prevent it from darkening or unpleasant wrinkles leading to healthier lips.

Drink water – Drinking water will help your body healthy and keep your lips hydrated and moist. Even though there is no standard of how much water or fluid you should drink per day, the Mayo Clinic suggests around 9 cups of water a day for women, and 13 cups per day for men.
